Meet Shelly Denham, RN, BSN, CHC, CHCO, CHPC, CHRC, one of UofL Health’s finest team members. Shelly has spent the last 21 years working for UofL Health and currently serves as our senior vice president of UofL Health – Compliance, Risk & Audit Services. She has loved watching the organization grow and develop throughout her career.
In her role, Shelly enforces our in-house procedures that uphold our organization to the highest standard, ensuring UofL Health provides the best care possible. She leads initiatives to predict and prevent risk and works to create solutions to internal challenges.
Shelly is proud to serve an organization of diverse patients and team members who use their unique backgrounds and personal experiences to create a welcoming environment for all.
“The collective knowledge we all bring to our individual positions makes UofL Health a great place to work,” Shelly said.
Her goal for the organization is to continue building on our current success and keep the momentum steady. She wants to spotlight a few of our internal partners for allowing UofL Health to live out our organizational mission behind the scenes.
“Human Resources, the Legal department, Information Technology and many others are critical to our success as a whole. These relationships, in coordination with our front-line health care workers, ensure we provide the best care, service and support possible for our community,” Shelly said.
Shelly, a Louisville native, has enjoyed raising her family in her hometown, where she attended Fairdale High School – go Bulldogs! She has been married to her husband, Tim, for almost 33 years and together they have two children, Cole and Ally.
Her children have now moved away to the scenic West, which allows Shelly to enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors with her family. She is an avid nature and animal lover and could spend every day hiking or gardening.
Shelly’s go-to meal is a fresh garden salad, but in the morning, she is looking for a piece of toast to cover in her favorite blackberry jam. On her way into the office, she’s searching for any song from the seventies or eighties and especially loves ‘the artist formally known as’ Prince.
If she could quickly pick up any skill, she’d love to learn a new language. Shelly believes that “mindset is everything” and encourages others to try new things and learn from first-hand experiences.
If you catch Shelly in the hallway, be sure to say “hello” and introduce yourself. She would love to get to know you!
