Khairunissa Batool Mohiuddin, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, provides primary care services at UofL Physicians – Primary Care Associates at 5100 Outer Loop in Louisville.
Dr. Mohiuddin has been with UofL Health since July 2019. She started working as a float nurse practitioner and then she was part of the COVID-19 center team from March to May 2020.
In August 2020, Dr. Mohiuddin began working at her Primary Care Associates location. She considers this practice her home that has helped her grow and become the nurse practitioner she always dreamed of being.
Dr. Mohiuddin diagnoses and treats patients of all ages, whether they are newborns, more than 100 years old or somewhere in between. She provides care for the whole family, from prevention and health promotion to education and diagnosis. Dr. Mohiuddin’s patients have conditions such as ear infections, upper respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, diabetes, hypertension, thyroid conditions, back pain, high cholesterol, asthma, COPD, etc.
Dr. Mohiuddin also performs gynecological services, including Pap smears and checks for sexually-transmitted diseases. Also, she administers preventative exams, well-child visits and immunizations. She treats mental health disorders including anxiety and depression as well, and when needed, she makes referrals to specialists.
Dr. Mohiuddin’s favorite thing about UofL Health is the opportunity to help and serve our community.
“I find myself to be fortunate to treat patients from all walks of life,” she said. “The office where I work sees patients from all different nationalities. So far I can recall 20 nationalities that I see regularly. I find myself treating three generations at times and [I am] incredibly lucky to be able to help patients live a healthy life and provide tools that can help in their goal to live a healthy lifestyle. Words can’t describe the satisfaction and joy I feel taking care of my patients as many patients I see come with no prior health care and are in worse health with elevated blood pressure and mental health concerns.”
Dr. Mohiuddin was born and raised in Hyderabad, India. She moved to Louisville 17 years ago, and she claims this has been one of the best times of her life.
“Though leaving home was not easy, Louisville is my home that has helped me become the person I am today,” Dr. Mohiuddin said.
Dr. Mohiuddin received her bachelor of arts in biology and bachelor of science in nursing from University of Louisville. In 2014, she received the Professional Nursing Award from University of Louisville School of Nursing faculty. She was also an undergraduate research scholar.
Dr. Mohiuddin then received her family nurse practitioner degree and her doctorate in nursing practice from Spalding University. She is an adjunct professor for doctorate in nursing practice students at Spalding University.
Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Dr. Mohiuddin volunteered in different capacities at UofL Health – UofL Hospital, including in the Inpatient Pharmacy and the Emergency Department. She feels volunteering at UofL Hospital was one of the best experiences that gave her an insight into the health care system, and that greatly influenced her decision to become a nurse practitioner.
Dr. Mohiuddin is not just a nurse practitioner. She is also a successful business entrepreneur. She currently owns more than four convenience stores in Louisville and believes in giving back to the community.
Dr. Mohiuddin loves cooking different foods in her spare time. She enjoys eating mashed potatoes, salmon and green beans, and claims that she has tried salmon and mashed potatoes from most of the restaurants in Louisville. She also loves Indian dishes, including biryani, chicken 65 and butter chicken.
Also, Dr. Mohiuddin enjoys traveling to Cape Cod, Mass., Hyderabad and Chicago. She is a wife and a mom to three beautiful children, ages 13, 7 and 6.
Dr. Mohiuddin feels everyone has a chance to make a difference. She believes inspiration and motivation can help us do better every day. Louisville and UofL Health are very lucky to have Dr. Mohiuddin!
