Mark Spivak, MSN, BSN, RN, began his health care career as a newly graduated registered nurse at UofL Health – UofL Hospital in 2001. Twenty-one years later, he serves as Emergency Department director with the same organization.
Mark is inspired by the academic medical environment of UofL Health and enjoys the pursuit of the latest and greatest inventions for our patients. He strives to help our organization become a premier neurology, cardiology and pulmonary center through compassionate, innovative, patient-centered care.
“I am the first point of contact for many patients that enter our system,” Mark said. “I make it a priority to not only care for the patients that enter our Emergency Department, but to engage with the community by providing health fairs and community education.”
Growing up, Mark spent many years volunteering at UofL Health – Jewish Hospital with the summer volunteer program and worked at UofL Health – Frazier Rehabilitation Institute as a summer physical therapy extern.
Something you may not know about Mark is he was born in Odessa, Ukraine, but spent most of his adolescent years in the United States.
Mark has a bachelor and master of science in nursing from the University of Louisville. He is proud to call Louisville his home and to help transform the health of this community.
