Chris Burchett MSN, RN, NEA-BC, has been with UofL Health for 13 years and currently serves as the system director for UofL Health – Employee Health. As system director, he oversees all aspects of Employee Health and how Employee Health services impact team members.
Chris’ team makes sure all employees have updated their annual vaccine requirements and assists employees when they are ill by answering all questions and providing them with guidelines. His team is also in charge of performing all new hire health assessments. In addition, Employee Health was integral in the rollout and process of getting employees vaccinated against COVID-19.
“My department touches everyone from the CEO to the new employee just starting their health care journey,” Chris said.
If you ask Chris why he became a nurse, he will tell you that his mom was a nurse for 45 years and his dad was a respiratory therapist for more than 30 years.
His favorite thing about working for UofL Health is that the organization makes a difference for all members of the community. He treats everyone with dignity and respect and the same is reciprocated to him by his fellow team members. He hopes to continue to see UofL Health grow and serve the city.
Chris was born and raised in Louisville and is married with three kids and a dog named Porter. One thing you may not know about him is that he learned to juggle while attending Seneca High School and can still juggle to this day.
Do you know Spanish? Chris is looking to expand his language selections. You could have a lesson while enjoying pizza, which is his favorite meal of all time.
When he’s not watching The Captain, the story of Derek Jeter on television, he’s listening to the Bill Simmons and Ryen Russillo podcast.
If you plan to take Chris to breakfast, be sure to order him a nice helping of bacon. During your conversations, if you ask for advice, he may drop his favorite Michael Jordan quote, “You miss 100% of the shots you never take.”
If you see Chris out and about, be sure to say “hello” and ask him about his juggling or his favorite podcast. He would love to get to know you!
