Caitlin Cushing, RN, has worked with UofL Health for a little over seven and a half years. Originally from New Albany, Indiana, she graduated from Galen College of Nursing and works in the Emergency Department at UofL Health – Jewish Hospital as a charge nurse.
She started her journey with UofL Health in 2015 with UofL Health – Peace Hospital and worked there for about a year. She then transferred to UofL Health – Frazier Rehabilitation Institute where she worked for three years. Caitlin always wanted to work in the Emergency Department, and when the right opportunity came along at Jewish Hospital, she couldn’t pass it up. She joined the Emergency Department team in 2018.
Caitlin’s favorite thing about UofL Health is the people.
“I love the people that I work with and the environment,” Caitlin said. “UofL Health has the best co-workers that create a fun work environment. The Emergency Department also has the best management team!”
Caitlin has an important goal in mind for UofL Health. She wants to see the organization continue to grow and provide quality care to the residents of Louisville. She lives out our mission by taking care of the patients to the best of her ability and giving compassionate care to all people who come through the Emergency Department.
When Caitlin isn’t at work, you can find her spending time with her family. She has two boys who are five and seven.
Do you like Mexican food? Make a plan to grab Qdoba with Caitlin! She loves the chicken queso burrito and could probably eat it every day for the rest of her life. While you’re there, ask her about her current read – “Code Girls” by Liza Mundy. If you’re not much for reading, you could ask her about “Blackbird” on Apple TV.
If Caitlin could learn any skill instantly, it would be how to knit. However, she doesn’t let not knowing how to knit get her down. She lives by the saying, “It takes more energy to be negative than it does to be positive.”
If you see Caitlin in the Emergency Department at Jewish Hospital, make sure you say “hello” and ask her to choose her favorite Lumineers song. She would love to get to know you!
