Wendy Myers, MBA, MT(ASCP), has been with UofL Health since May 2022. She is the laboratory manager at UofL Health – Mary & Elizabeth Hospital and has worked in health care for 20 years.
In her role, Wendy leads the hospital’s laboratory team and works with all hospital departments to ensure quality patient care through accurate laboratory testing. The laboratory team works with all clinical departments in the hospital to provide physicians with information needed for the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Wendy’s favorite thing about UofL Health is the relationships between all departments and the focus on patient-centered care. Her team helps provide a complete picture of the clinical status of a patient, giving physicians and other caregivers the ability to provide patients with the best possible treatments.
If you were to ask Wendy about her favorite part of UofL Health, she would say the collaboration between departments and united purpose. UofL Health team members focus on our mission and it is evident in their actions and how they care for their patients.
Being compassionate to patients and their families and helping however possible in research efforts to develop new standards of health care is how Wendy lives out UofL Health’s mission.
“By fostering compassion, we represent how everyone should be treated, regardless of their circumstance or situation,” Wendy said. “Patients come to us in a time of need and uncertainty. It’s our privilege and duty to help them on their recovery journey.”
One fun fact about Wendy is that her name came from the good witch in the television show “Casper, The Friendly Ghost.”
Wendy grew up in Owensboro, Ky., and earned her bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Brescia University. She and her family moved to sunny Florida where she received her master’s degree in business administration from University of West Florida. Kentucky called her back home in 2022.

In her free time, you can catch Wendy reading sci-fi or mystery books or watching “Peripheral” on television. She has a tie for her favorite book series, which is between “Dune” or “Saga of the Seven Suns.” She also just completed the three seasons of “Jack Ryan.”
Some of Wendy’s favorite hobbies include camping, singing, photography and trivia. Her favorite song to sing – that’s a hard choice.
“I have an eclectic playlist,” Wendy explained. “‘Hallelujah’ by Leonard Cohen is in my top three.”
