The UofL Health – Office of Professional Practice, Nursing Research and Nursing Education are here to support and serve the nursing and clinical staff of UofL Health.
Their role in our organization includes facilitating the professional role development and growth of nurses and other health care personnel using evidence-based practice and ensuring that all leaders and staff have the knowledge, skills and resources to provide optimal care to our patients. The team is responsible for successfully transitioning our clinicians to professional practice within UofL Health and guiding them through our values of continual growth, education and professional development to ensure an academic, research-driven approach to patient care.
You may have seen or felt their impact throughout UofL Health by driving organizational outcomes through research, evidence-based practice, quality improvement and professional development.
“We are the foundation of nursing excellence within UofL Health,” said Mandi Walker, DNP, RN, CCRN-K, NPD-BC, NEA-BC, system executive director of the Office of Professional Practice.
Meet the Team
Who is most likely to get recognized by the Guinness World Record, and what would it be for?
If there is a musical category for singing the most random songs in under a minute, count on Joshua Toomer (system education). However, if a therapy session is what you need, Amber Archibald (UofL Health – UofL Hospital) has been recognized for the most therapy sessions a person can hold in one day with total strangers. If you need information, quick and sweet, talk to Vijay Warrier (system education) who was nominated as the world’s fastest talker. Loni Williams (UofL Health – Peace Hospital) is of great assistance to Peace Hospital as she would hold the record for the most different jobs at Peace Hospital.
Who would most likely get away with murder?
If this team had a line-up, it would include Tara Neuner (UofL Hospital), Sherle Niner (UofL Hospital), Becca Busch (system education) and Amber Archibald (UofL Hospital). Amber may be a suspect, but they’d never be able to prove it. Becca would be released as she is too sweet to be held as the lead suspect.
Who is the best cook?
Word on the curb is Mary Sebastian (system education) is the best cook on the team with her tasty treats and savory dishes. However, close runners-up include Mandi Walker’s homemade bread pasta sauce and pesto along with team favorites from Alicia Jones (UofL Hospital) and Casey Davis (UofL Hospital).
We also can’t forget about Deb Cook (Peace Hospital), who is not only a fantastic cook but was born a Cook and will be a Cook for all of her days.
Who is the most talented on the team?
This team is full of many talents. Josh Toomer’s (system education) melodic sounds can pump you up with his songs and preaching. Katie Robinson (system education) is sure to bring a smile to your face using the talents she learned in clown school. Rumor has it that Amber can do anything, so keep her in mind when you feel stuck.
Who would be late to their own funeral?
“I will be working up until lunch the day of my funeral because I am going to have to make sure that insurance is still in effect,” said Cynthia Vinson (Jewish Hospital).
Who is the most caring?
The team is full of caring people like Sherle Niner (UofL Hospital). Mary Sebastian (system education) isn’t called “Mama Mary” for nothing! Allison Deckel (Peace Hospital) will go out of her way to uplift you on a bad day or a wonderful celebration.
Who is the team jokester?
Hands down, Kelly Russell (UofL Hospital). If you noticed your mouse has randomly stopped working or your computer screen is flipped upside down… we are not pointing any fingers.
Who is the most athletic?
If you need someone to join your after-work sports league or are in need of a walking buddy, talk with Josh Toomer (system education) or April Self (UofL Hospital).
Who travels the most?
If travel is your thing, this team has the people to reach out to. Jody Revels (UofL Health – Mary & Elizabeth Hospital) sets sail across the ocean somewhere as often as possible (multiple times a year). Become a world traveler with the help of Courtenay Aguayo (Peace Hospital) and hit up Stacey Reynolds (Peace Hospital) for the best tanning spots.
