With over 30 years of experience, Kimberly Williams, BSN, RN-BC, is one of our finest health care heroes. Kimberly is a clinical nurse manager at UofL Health – UofL Hospital with a focus in endoscopy. Every day is a little bit different, as she services the pain clinic, pre- and post-operation units and assists with Botox movement disorders.
In her role, Kimberly works to support clinical staff and to increase volumes by marketing to referral sources and the community. One of her biggest goals is to spread the word of the great care provided by her team members across our organization. She hopes to educate the community about our options and advertise lesser-known services.
Her favorite part of working for UofL Health is the ability to grow and learn with each new day.
“UofL Hospital is a teaching environment, so I continue to learn something new every day after 35 years. We are so fortunate to be on the frontline of advancements and put new equipment and procedures into use,” Kimberly explained. “It’s very exciting to watch it all take off and see trials become services we can provide to our community and regions beyond.”
Kimberly has spent the past 15 years helping UofL Hospital create and submit its application towards Magnet designation. The most memorable moment of her time with UofL Health was the moment our nursing team finally submitted the application this past January. For those that don’t know, Magnet designation recognizes worldwide excellence in nursing when nursing leaders align strategic goals to enhance patient outcomes.
“We worked hard to make UofL Hospital a place of nursing excellence and provide high-quality care. Nursing is critical and we feel empowered to make changes and be proactive in health care. As nurses, we are heard throughout our organization, and we want to show others our excellence,” Kimberly said.
Kimberly credits her team with maintaining exceptional care for both patients and each other.
“I feel like I have the best employees in the organization. I have never seen a more cohesive team and I consider myself very lucky,” Kimberly said.
Did you know Kimberly has an identical twin? Best of all, she also works for UofL Health! Kimberly’s identical twin sister, Cindy Lucchese, MBA, BSN, RN, serves the organization as chief nurse executive for UofL Health – UofL Physicians. The two are Louisville natives and feel passionate about giving back to their hometown by providing innovative and personalized care.
One thing you may not know about Kimberly is she’s a pescatarian. Her favorite food is lobster, and she would eat it every single day if she could!
Kimberly knows a thing or two about opera. Her son is a professional opera singer, so she’s attended many performances and can give you a great recommendation. But, when it’s Kimberly’s turn to sing, she likes to stick to the Mariah Carey classics.
Sitcoms are her go-to when she’s sitting down to watch TV. Her current favorites are The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon and Friends. Joining her on the couch are her two furry friends, Olly, a giant schnoodle, and Lucy, a goldendoodle.
Kimberly starts each day with the mantra, “As long as all the patients are taken care of, the rest will fall into place.” If you see her around UofL Hospital, say “How you doin’” in your best Joey Tribbiani impression and introduce yourself. She would love to get to know you!
