Holly Clem, RN, is one of the many friendly faces you’ll find at UofL Health – Mary and Elizabeth Hospital. As the chest pain and STEMI coordinator, she has spent the last four months working in the new 24/7 STEMI program for heart attack patients.
Holly began developing the program at Mary & Elizabeth Hospital more than a year ago and successfully launched it in August 2021. This June, Holly will celebrate 10 years with the organization, where she also works as a nurse in the cardiac cath lab and provides EMS outreach.
“I would consider my role to be multifaceted,” said Holly. “I spend time at the bedside caring for patients, providing emergency care education for the Emergency Department and Access Center and teaching the community about blood pressure management.”
Holly’s favorite part of working for UofL Health is the opportunity to do more. She feels she has the support and resources to make a greater impact on our community with her team and her new program development. She is working towards earning the chest pain accreditation for Mary & Elizabeth Hospital and developing new policies and procedures for high-quality service metrics.
Holly starts each day with the mantra, “Today I will choose happiness,” making a conscious effort to choose positivity and joy. Compassion is at the core of her efforts and interaction with others. She feels grateful to be surrounded by a team that provides both innovative and compassionate care to ensure patients receive exceptional treatment.
When she’s not caring for patients, Holly enjoys finding new and unique places to eat around town. She could eat tacos for every meal and would love to tell you about her favorite find, La Catrina.
You can count on Holly for a great murder mystery podcast or book recommendation. She could stay up all night reading anything by Stephen King! If she takes the time to sit and watch something, it’s usually Steel Magnolias or RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Not sure of the difference between a primer and concealer brush? Ask Holly! At the start of quarantine, Holly kept herself busy with a makeup master class. Perfecting her makeup routine and showing others has been one of her favorite hobbies and she even does wedding makeup in her spare time.
If you see Holly around, be sure to say, “hello,” and ask her about her latest foodie find. She would love to get to know you!
