UofL Health – Jewish Hospital is proud to announce the appointment of Shane Fitzgerald as its new Chief Operating Officer. With a distinguished career in health care spanning over a decade, Shane brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this vital leadership role.
Shane began his career in health care in 2012, joining KentuckyOne Health as vice president of mission integration at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown, Ky. His commitment to the organization and dedication to improving health care services soon led to an expanded role in 2014, when he assumed oversight responsibilities at UofL Health – Peace Hospital and UofL Health – Mary & Elizabeth Hospital.
In 2018, Shane was appointed Chief Operating Officer at UofL Health – Mary & Elizabeth. During his tenure, he made significant contributions to the operational efficiency and excellence of the organization, earning recognition for his leadership and vision.
In a testament to his leadership skills and industry acumen, Shane was called upon in 2023 to serve as Interim-CEO at Taylor Regional Hospital. This eight-month engagement exemplified his commitment to advancing the healthcare sector. His involvement assisted UofL Health and Taylor Regional Hospital during a critical transitional period as they conducted a nationwide search for a permanent CEO.

Beyond his professional achievements, Shane lives in Indiana with his wife and daughter. He also serves on the boards of South Louisville Community Ministries and the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, Inc., demonstrating his dedication to the community. In his spare time, he enjoys a variety of interests, including sports, reading, cooking and most importantly, spending quality time with his family.
