Derek Milby, DNP, MSN, RN, is the director of UofL Health – Mixed Acuity and has been with UofL Health for three months. Derek said Mixed Acuity is one of the largest areas of the hospital that can impact our metrics overall. His favorite thing about UofL Health is the collegiality among the staff and peers he works with.
“I live out our mission through empathy with every human interaction I encounter,” Derek said. “I want the patients, families and staff to know that I am here for them in their time of need. We meet people at their worst moments of their life. It is our duty to make them feel the best we possibly can.”
Derek’s goal is for UofL Health to be innovative in everything we do, from patient experience to quality outcomes.
Derek is a certified firefighter and emergency medical responder. His hometown is Louisville and he obtained his doctor of nursing practice in ethical leadership degree from McKendree University. He loves sushi and vacationing in Key West, Fla. with his wife.
Derek’s favorite motivational quote is from George Burns: “I’d rather be a failure at something I love, than successful at something I hate.”
