Congratulations to Alyce Goodman Abraham, APRN, for the prestigious American Association of Nurse Practitioners State Award for Excellence for 2020. The NP State Award for Excellence is given to an individual nurse practitioner in each state who has demonstrated excellence in clinical practice. Alyce is a nurse practitioner with UofL Physicians – Urogynecology, part of the Department of OB/GYN & Women’s Health.
Alyce pioneered and innovated the role of the pelvic pain nurse practitioner. Nationally recognized for her innovative work, she is locally renowned for her compassionate care in treating a difficult and often under-appreciated problem. She graduated from Vanderbilt’s MSN program in 1995 and is board-certified in Women’s Health and has a certification in Pelvic Muscle Therapy. She is a member of the International Pelvic Pain Society and has been a guest lecturer locally, regionally and nationally speaking and raising awareness about pelvic pain. She is involved with research, collaboration with other professionals, presented grand grounds and precepts students.
Alyce serves as the regional director of the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives (KCNPNM) and was the recipient of the Ellen Bailey Award for Leadership in 2014 for that role. Overall, the patient care Alyce provides enhances quality of life for patients suffering from pelvic pain and gives them hope. For this, we congratulate Alyce on this milestone and accomplishment.
