The Kentucky Society of Health-System Pharmacists (KSHP) recently presented its annual awards which acknowledge the hard work and innovation of its members. Several UofL Health – Pharmacy Services team members were recognized for their accomplishments and contributions to advancing pharmacy practices within Kentucky.

Technician of the Year

Jovan demonstrates a willingness to go above and beyond, strong relationship-building skills, commitment to training others. She has boosted morale in the department by motivating, leading by example and providing continuous support to all technicians, especially during unprecedented staff shortages. Jovan exhibits an unrivaled pursuit of excellence in the provision of pharmacy services to patients and nursing staff, commitment to developing the technician team and perseverance during trying times.
Pharmacist of the Year
Lourdes Cross, PharmD, BCACP, CDCES
Clinical Pharmacist, UofL Health – UofL Hospital Department of Internal Medicine and Endocrinology
Lourdes is described by her peers as a model pharmacy practitioner who has dedicated her career to improving clinical pharmacy services; having an exponential impact on patient care, pharmacy education and professional advancement; demonstrates outstanding leadership at the local, state and national level and has inspired many learners.
New Practitioner of the Year
Emily O’Reilly, PharmD, BCACP, CSP
UofL Health – Specialty Pharmacy; Multiple Sclerosis Center
Residency Program Director; PGY1 Community Pharmacy Residency | PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency at UofL Hospital
Emily was selected for this honor based on her commitment to advancing pharmacy services, passion for precepting and mentoring, dedication to improving medication access for unique patient populations and contributing to local pharmacist education and development.
A special award was presented to Tina Claypool, PharmD, CDCES, in recognition for her volunteer leadership as 2020-2021 President of the Kentucky Society of Health-System Pharmacists, working to help advance and support hospital pharmacy services across Kentucky. She was also recognized by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists for her leadership contributions in Kentucky.
KSHP works on behalf of pharmacists in Kentucky who practice in hospitals and health systems to improve medication use and enhance patient safety.
