Tom Miller is the CEO of UofL Health and has been with the organization for almost two years.
As CEO, Tom has a responsibility to UofL Health and the Louisville community. One of the biggest draws to joining our system was because of the opportunity to truly make a difference in the overall health and wellness of Louisville.
There isn’t a “typical day” in Tom’s world, but his actions impact every part of our health care system.
“I am involved in every aspect of UofL Health,” said Tom. “From the strategic plan development, to financials, recruitment and working with our providers, I use our resources tactfully while keeping in mind the mission and vision of our organization.”
When asked about his goals for UofL Health, Tom has a simple, attainable goal in mind. He wants to improve the health of the community we serve and provide a place that allows the skills of our caregivers to be used in a healing environment to further promote our dedication to an academic research institution.
“My favorite things about UofL Health are our commitment to teaching, community focus, quaternary provider of care and the strong academic focus we hold as a system,” said Tom.
Originally from lower Alabama, Tom obtained his undergraduate education from Auburn University and went on to receive his master’s from the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB). Tom is quick to clarify, that UAB is not the University of Alabama.
A fun fact about Tom is that he is a twin. Even though he and his brother share similar DNA, he insists that he is the better golfer.
If Tom could eat one meal every day for the rest of his life, he would have a traditional Thanksgiving meal—turkey with all of the fixin’s.
You might catch the self-proclaimed Parrothead whistling a Jimmy Buffett tune or the Eagles’ “Desperado” as he daydreams about his next visit to the beach.
The next time you see Tom, give him a wave or an elbow nudge and introduce yourself. He would love to get to know you!
