The “Power of U” is expanding in South Louisville! Over the next 18 months, UofL Physicians – Family Medicine, currently located at Cardinal Station at 215 Central Avenue, will be expanding our primary care services and residency training program to UofL Health – Mary & Elizabeth Hospital.
Beginning on April 11, three of our primary care providers/University of Louisville School of Medicine faculty, along with first-year resident physicians, will move to Mary & Elizabeth Hospital to open a new office: UofL Physicians – Family Medicine – Mary & Elizabeth Hospital located in Suite 306/Medical Plaza I at 4402 Churchman Ave.
Located at the office will be:
along with first-year residents:
- Joshua Akers, M.D.
- Alexa Black, M.D.
- Susana Collins, M.D.
- Ayesha Imran, M.D.
- Kailyn Mitchell, M.D.
- Pavani Nathala, M.D.
- Dessi Slavova, M.D.
- Nicole Todd, M.D.
“This is a great opportunity for our department and our residency program while helping meet the primary care needs of an underserved portion of metro Louisville,” said Jonathan Becker, M.D., chair of the Department of Family and Geriatric Medicine at the UofL School of Medicine. “We look forward to expanding the services we provide to Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, whose team has been so welcoming during this process. At the same time, our commitment to providing excellent care at the Cardinal Station site will not change. This is an exciting step that could not have happened without the support from both the School of Medicine and UofL Health and we are grateful for their confidence and support.”
Melisa Adkins, chief executive officer of Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, said that the new family medicine practice will provide an expansion of much-need primary care services on the hospital’s campus.
“Mary & Elizabeth Hospital provides services for a population that has a tremendous need for accessible primary care,” Melisa said. “The community we serve has above-average rates of obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease. The opening of this clinic with 11 new family medicine providers will have an immediate, positive impact on the health care of our South Louisville community.”
The telephone number at the new location will be 502-588-8720. When construction is completed in 2023, the office will be permanently located on the fourth floor of Medical Plaza I.
Patients who choose not to move their care to the Mary & Elizabeth Hospital location may continue to receive health care services from other providers at our UofL Physicians – Family Medicine – Cardinal Station office located in Suite 100, 215 Central Avenue.
