Patients who receive primary care from UofL Physicians providers at Cardinal Station, located at 215 Central Avenue, will notice some recent changes. All providers who previously cared for patients at the UofL Physicians – Family Medicine, Centers for Primary Care in Suite #205 have joined the providers in Suite #100 to now be known as UofL Physicians – Family Medicine, Cardinal Station. Providers at the expanded practice include:
- Brittney Corniel, DNP, APRN, FNP-C
- Jennifer P. Daily, M.D., CAQSM
- Lauren Herrmann, M.D.
- Jordan Hilgefort, M.D., CAQSM
- Melissa L. Humphreys, APRN
- Karen W. Krigger, M.D.
- Anne Mason, MS/Ed.(licensed couples therapist, mental/behavioral health)
- Jonathan Newsom, M.D., CAQSM
- Katherine M. Pohlgeers, M.D., CAQSM

- Brittney M. Richardson, M.D., CAQSM
- Jackie Smith, APRN
According to Jonathan Becker, M.D., chair of the Department of Family & Geriatric Medicine and professor at the UofL School of Medicine, the combined practice with more providers improves the overall access to primary care services for patients.
“For both the health system and the School of Medicine, anything we can do to expand access to primary care services while enhancing the residency training program for our physicians is a win,” said Dr. Becker. “Patients now have a convenient first-floor access point into an expanded practice that includes physicians, nurse practitioners and behavioral health services.”
In addition to primary care, Dr. Becker said Cardinal Station will continue to be a location for sports medicine services.
“UofL Health – Sports Medicine Institute opened a newly renovated office in 2021 in a multi-specialty collaboration between primary care sports medicine, orthopedics and PM&R,” said Dr. Becker. “Primary care physicians who specialize in sports medicine are also embedded in the new expanded family medicine practice.”
Recently, UofL Physicians – Family Medicine announced the opening of a new family medicine office on the campus of UofL Health – Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. The office is currently being staffed by three UofL School of Medicine faculty members and eight first-year residents. They will be welcoming a new class of residents there in July to further expand access to this site.
