Physicians and other specialists in the care of patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, will offer training for primary care professionals as well as those in neurology, psychiatry, psychological services, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and other health-care disciplines. Patients with ALS require interdisciplinary care from a team of health-care professionals.
Speakers include Martin E. Brown. M.D., M.Sc., co-director of the UofL Division of Neuromuscular Medicine, Esther Volmer, M.S., speech pathologist at Norton Healthcare, and Suma Babu, M.B.B.S., M.P.H., of the ALS Multidisciplinary Clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
This event is free to all participants and physicians and nurses may receive CME and CE credit.
The training is Saturday, Nov. 23, beginning at 8 a.m. at UofL Shelbyhurst Campus, Founders Union Building, 450 N. Whittington Parkway.
